Car Raid

I've known Matthew Lane for almost 3 years now, and i've only been in his car once until now. His old Honda Civic looks like just another hand me down car but inside there is so much more. "I spend most of my time in my car, whether it's going to work or just taking my friends out on the weekend." Matt said, as the first thing I laid eyes on was a pair of cheap black heels in the backseat. They were a size 6 and smelled like a rotten fish, and I could tell he was embarrassed by the alarming piece of apparel we both saw. "Before you say anything, they're my mom's." He told me and I started to wonder why his mom's shoes would be in his own car.
To the eye's view, the car looked pretty clean. I knew something was off because his own room is something like a landfill, would't his car be the same? I looked under the driver's seat to find two pairs of black gloves. Two things ran through my mind, either Matt's hands get really cold or he's up to something no good. Matt's only 18 and about to go to college in Seattle, Washington. He has so much going for him so I decided to brush this off and keep looking.
I then get to unlock the trunk and I was already nervous. I popped it open and the first thing I see is a large black duffle bag. I looked at Matt and he had no expression, looking straight forward into the car. "I need to go to the bathroom, i'll be right back." Matt said to me and he walked off back into his house.  I then take this time to open the black duffle. The sight of two black long sleeves, one large and one small, and two black ski masks. My heart dropped. It was all suddenly coming together, Matt and his mom are working together. Something shady is going on, and that's when Matt came up out of nowhere and slams the trunk shut. He looked at me dead in the eye and said "You didn't see anything, got that?" I then didn't want to ask anymore questions, I nodded my head and Matt took me home. We didn't say anything else, there was nothing else to be said. His mother and him are secret agent spies.

Movie Review

The cast of the movie includes well known American actors such as Tom Hanks as Captain phillips, and African actors such as Barked Abdi playing as Muse. Other small roles were played by Barked Abdiraham as Bial and Michael Churns as Shane Murphy. The film begins with Richard Phillips taking charge of a cargo ship. The group's expedition is interrupted and paused when Somalian Pirates barge in. The American crew from then is forced to cooperate with these aggressive/violent Somalian pirates in order to survive. As the leader of the ship, Captain Phillips does all thing possible to keep his crew and the Somalians alive. In many parts of the film, I thought the Somalian pirates would end up killing Captain Phillips, however the movie had some unexpected parts that kept me wondering what was gonna happen. It was very suspenseful and made me actually intrigued. In the beginning and I wasn't interested in the story because I wouldn't typically watch this type of movie. To tie in with how this movie represents a true story, the movie really focuses in on the moral of sacrificing yourself for others. For example, Captain Phillips sacrificed going on the ship with dangerous people so his crew would not have to. The main character/protagonist, Captain Phillips represents courage This film mainly attracts young adults that are looking for a good drama/action story. I think this movie's plot was very well planned out. Although this movie was very intriguing and something that defiantly kept me on my toes, it was very violent and at points hard to watch. I am someone who is very sensitive to these kind of topics, but they made it so interesting. The movie was also a bit too slow moving, and I felt like there were some irrelevant scenes. Overall it was mediocre, mainly just hard to keep up with and follow along with the story told. This film has poor audience demographics mainly because only young adults would think this film was intriguing because it is too complex for young kids to understand. In my opinion young kids probably shouldn't watch it because of the violence that they are not mature enough to handle at a young age, they may also get very bored because it is so long. I think the film wasn't bad however it was not something I would see again. I would rate this film 3 out of 5 stars. I recommend you to watch Captain Phillips for the intense scenes and the incredible acting done by this high quality cast! But if you are sensitive to violence and "strong" language, I wouldn't recommend this. It is a more mature story that is meant for mature audiences.

Trump fired the director because he didn't trust him. If we weren't told when a major player is removed from office we would have less control over our own government and feel less safe. I think the story is big because it happened out nowhere. I think Trump needs to be under more suspicion for Russia relations because it sounds like he's lying about everything.

I think a sanctuary city is an area that fails to help the government in the immigration process. I do not think sanctuary cities are good or bad because in the end because when the police agencies do not cooperate more illegal immigrants will not be paying taxes. The final tally was 90-52.

Long Response-
The relationship between the U.S. and Russia right now are not looking too good. Trump is not getting along well with Putin which is causing some major problems. The attacks that occurred in Syria have been a major cause to this too. I think that the conflict that occurred in Syria has had a key role in this shift. Trump's decision to bomb them was not a good idea. I think that this situation could either resolve itself, or cause another war between us which is not a good option at all. If there is a war, people I know could be drafted for a war. I think that would be really scary and I hope that I am not drafted because I could not survive in a war. This could also affect me if Russia bombs us or attacks us on American turf.

Movie Prep

1. Captain Phillips, Chief Engineer Mike Perry, Navy SEALS, Ali Aden Elmi, Hamac & Abduwali Muse.

2. The ship would be headed in the general direction of Africa, carrying cargo and manned by Phillips and Perry, as well as other crew members. It then would get hijacked somewhere off the coast of Africa. The Maersk Alabama would sink the pirates' ship, but they would get on the boat. The crew of the boat would lock themselves in the engine room, and trap one of the pirates with them. The pirates would try to escape, and they would take the Captain hostage to try to exchange him for their friend. Then, the pirates would try to escape in their boat, but it wouldn't start, so the crew would drop the lifeboat to get back Captain Phillips. The pirates would take the boat and the Captain before the crew could do anything.  The crew would call many people to get it solved, and the movie would end with 3 of the pirates getting shot and killed, and Captain Phillips escaping.

3. This story was important because it shows that this is a real issue, and people should be aware of it. Also, it is very dramatic and eventful.

4. The pirates wanted the ship because they wanted the cargo on it, as well as machines and such. They were trying to rob the ship to make money.

Pt-2

1. The five most important actors in the film are Tom Hanks as Richard Phillips, Bakhad Abdi as Abduwali Muse, Barkhad Abdirahman as Adan Bilal, Catherine Kreener as Andrea Phillips, and Michael Chernus as Shane Murphy.

2. The movie is rated 93% on Rotten Tomatoes.

3. The movie was directed by Paul Greengrass

5. Awards:

6. It costed 55 million dollars to shoot.

7. The audience rated the movie 4.2 out of 5 stars, and 93% of rotten tomatoes,

8. Movie reviewers though that Tom Hanks was good in the character of Richard Phillips and the movie was captivating as the events closely followed what actually happened.

The most beautiful smile i've ever seen was when I met him for the first time. I'm not going to name this boy, i'll keep calling him "him" for the rest of the story. When I first method we had planned to meet up and I saw him from across the room. He was standing there by himself with no other people around him and I felt the urge to be next to him in that moment. I walked up to him and saw he was almost my height and I remember giggling to myself because i'm only 5'2.

5. It isn't that connected to the other movies, I mean it is but the orignal plot is hidden and modernized.
6. "What the film really lacks is a strong and vigorous male lead (such as Han Solo or John Boyega's Finn in The Force Awakens) to balance more equally with Jyn and supply a sparring partner. None of the men here has real physical or vocal stature, nor any scenes in which they can decisively emerge from the pack in a way that engages audience enthusiasm. Both Luna and Ahmed have proved themselves repeatedly in big-screen and television performances, but their characters never pop here, to the film's detriment. And given that Jyn is rather less gung-ho and imposing than was Ridley's Rey, there's an overall feel of less physical capacity on the part of the main characters."

The reboot directed by Kelly Asbury (Shrek 2) should please its target audience while providing little entertainment value to any adult chaperones who appreciated Neil Patrick Harris and Hank Azaria’s enjoyably over-the-top turns in the first two films."

I do not believe that Obama ordered any kind of suverlliance on Trump. I believe that Trump says these kinds of things to kind of shadow his own mistakes and problems that he has. With the whole ties with Russia drama with Trump, I think he wants to make someone else look like the bad guy. There is no real evidence that Obama spied or cheated with anything, these are all accusations that the FBI need to check. Trump should apologize in he did nothing wrong, because accusing someone of huge crimes is very disrespectful, especially if you are the president of the united states. If Trump refuses, it just shows what kind of person he is. What kind of person want him as president?

5. I wouldn't want to see it on my own but my friend really wants to see it, so I guess.

Long Response-
The story is about Brynn Aylor who was in a car crash on Wednesday. I think it is really hard to prevent car crashes because there are so many different reasons behind the crashes like car malfunctions or blind spots, but I think a good way to start is self driving cars. I plan on taking driving training during sophomore year. In most cars now there are controls that help you to not use your phone like buttons on the back of steering wheels to change music without taking your hands off the wheel, but I think not enough people have updated cars for those to be in place yet. Yes, I think they should be able to drive because everyone has to drive eventually, and that is the age that everyone is becoming more independent and need to be more places without hassling parents or other people for car rides.

School choice is pretty much the choice people have to put their kids in either private or public schools. Douglas thinks that school choice is not enough and the government should get involved when Brendan thinks it is a "no brainer". I have never gone to a private school, But my parents wouldn't send me to a private school because my parents think they are stupid and 'I deserve the experience of public school'. But, I wouldn't want to go to the private school because it seems to preppy for me. I feel like your would get more special attention, but there would also be more rules and guidelines to follow.

What rule of composition do you see in the photo? Leading lines
What or who is the main subject? The tech crew
Is the photo exposed properly? Yes
Do you see evidence of a shallow or deep depth of field? Shallow

What or who is the main subject? Kate Stubbs
Is the photo exposed properly? Yes
Do you see evidence of a shallow or deep depth of field? Depth of field

What rule of composition do you see in the photo? Framing
What or who is the main subject? Either the sign or the girls head, or the balloon.
Is the photo exposed properly? Yes
Do you see evidence of a shallow or deep depth of field? Neither
Over All-

Why is this your favorite? It goes so well with the story and stands for so much equality.
What rules of photo composition are evident? Cropping
What is your least favorite photo in the entire paper? The photo on the back of the newspaper of the sign.
Why is this your least favorite? It is not focused on anything.
If you were a photographer on staff, which event/photo assignment would you have liked to do for this issue? You will need to look through the entire paper and see the topics covered and decide which one you think would have been fun.
The women march, because I actually went to that, and I know a lot about it.
Overall, how would you rate the photography in this issue? What were the strong points and weak points, write 2-3 sentences.
I would rate this from a 1-10 as an 8. Because it had a lot of different articles that interests a lot of different people, I think it really improved the paper.

Self Portrait Intro

Self Portrait Tips

1.  If you approach people in the right way, they'll usually be happy to have their picture made. It's up to you to break the ice and get them to cooperate. Joke around with them. Tell them why you want to make the picture. Practice with people you know so that you are comfortable; people can sense when you aren't.

2. Get your subject to experiment with different moods and emotions in your image. Play with emotions and moods.

2. Efficient, fast, easy to scan.
3. Emotionally irresistible.

Photo Ethics

A, Some main points regarding photo manipulations are that some photographers will merge, distort, or alter their photos in some way. They say they do this to better get their message across or to make an individual more attractive or something. This is seen as unionist photography, though. Just like you would;t change a persons quote nan interview, you shouldn't alter an image because then that shows something that isn't even truthful.

B. The philosophy of the Washington Post and New York Times and other newspapers regarding image manipulation is that the photos should not be altered because thats displaying an untruthful event and photography is a truthful showing of something.

C. Some acceptable things you could do to an image are change the brightness, tint, contrast, and other basic photo settings. These effects can possibly but don't necessarily change the image's story, they simply make it a nicer and prettier picture to look at.

D. I consider this photo the most unethical because the reason it was changed was to tell a story that isn't originally shown. If the school wanted so badly to show its diversity, it could've had somebody specifically shoot one. What they did was desperate and untruthful.

The Army Corps were involved because they manage the Missouri River with the hydroelectric dams. President Trump told the corps to change their minds on the Darcy's situation. Darcy declined to do the crossing on the environment for the pipeline. The project is over 3.8 billion to build the DAPL pipeline. The Standing Rock Sioux is a tribe that is worried about how the pipeline can pollute its drinking water from the Missouri River. The pipeline will go through the indian reservation. I don't think this pipeline should go through because of the environmental effects it will have. Trump does not believe their should be lots of environmental planning going into this. Me growing up with a endangered species biologist made me realize the environment is something we do need to protect for the future of this earth. I don't believe that there should be a pipeline at all. The damages it would do to the earth would be much more than anything else.

CE #4.3

1. It forces majority vote in in the senate to name the new supreme court member.
2. They gave all their money to the UT medical school.
3. They make microchips.
4. The award winner was Della Garza.
5. You can make the room totally black, add lots of seating, add lots of pillows,  and light a fire.

The Senate 4 Bill doesn't let local government inquire someone's status of immigration in custody, and won't let them transfer prisoners into the federal immigration system. This bill is for increasing the number of penalties against the local government that doesn't comply and will increase the security in universities. Austin will be impacted by causing an uproar and increase in protest because many citizens support undocumented immigrants and will find the bill unfair. I am in favor of the sanctuary cities because I believe that there should be safe havens in the United States but there should also be encouragement to apply for legal citizenship. Someone can come to the US and be safe from prosecution but should not just stay illegal for the rest of their time here.

4 Photos

This is metal and the photography rule is lines and simplicity.

This is Bowie and it has the rules of lines and pattern.

This is square and the photography rule is balance and simplicity.

This is happy and it shows simplicity.

C.E #4.1

2. The eight richest men in the world are Bill Gates, Amancio Ortega Gaona, Warren E. Buffett, Carlos Slim Helu, Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Lawrence J Ellision, Michael Bloomberg. They're in this report because the world's 62 richest people have more money than the bottom half of the population.

4. The four acts for visitors to do at the Kennedy Space Center is a film called "What is a Hero?" which consists of astronauts and celebrities talking about who their heroes are. Act 2 is like a viewing place consisting of balconies you can see different things from different angles. Act 3 is a diccussion between astronauts who talk about qualities in a hero. Act 4 is the astronaut hall of fame.

5. The 5 predications for 2017 is that internet house things will not be a trend, self driving cars, Netflix will get an oscar, Apple Music will become Apple Entertainment, A City Council member will be a former uber driver.

If I wasn't in school, I would definitely would watch the inauguration. It is a big deal for this country, Donald Trump is becoming the President of the United States! Whether I like him or not, I want to hear what he has to say. I'm always on social media, and honestly there is just so much backlash on him. The youth of today is mostly against him.

Writing Prompts with Pictures

The best song of 2016 was Frank Ocean's "Ivy" on his album Blonde. This song is absolutely beautiful, lyrically one of the best songs i've ever head. The song holds so much emotion and value that it isn't just another love song. It isn't a secret that Frank Ocean is amazingly talented, but when Blonde came out it really showed his talent. Ivy is a standout track that will never get old. I love love, and this song just brings butterflies to my stomach and makes me giddy.

The best movie of 2016 The Conjuring 2. I love the first Conjuring, and it's one of the only horror movies I will watch. This movie is filled with everything it should have, scary demons, lots of suspense, good characters, and a very scary ending. I hate scary movies with a passion and the two conjuring movies are the only ones I will watch and enjoy, so that says something about the storyline and quality of movies.

The best news story of 2016 was when they announced Harriet Tubman will be on the 20 dollar bill. I am excited for this because she will be the first woman on american currency! I am so grateful that women are being more appreciative and respected. She really did make an impact on USA history and i'm so glad she is getting honored for it.

The most important person of 2016 is Hillary Clinton. Hillary has made such a big impact on America this year and she really deserves the credit. She is so smart and strong, and she is so important to the new generation of women.
